Rabbi Mike Schultz serves as Director of Chaplaincy (livui ruchani) at Rambam Hospital, Haifa, with a staff of 8 milavim ruchaniyim (chaplains) on his team. Rabbi Schultz is certified as a milaveh ruchani and as an educator, teaching a 2-year professional training course in the hospital’s academic arm, Rambam College. He is playing an active role in developing the field of chaplaincy in Israel, in regular contact with the Health Ministry and the HMOs together with the leadership of the Israel Spiritual Care Association (the professional association in Israel). He and his family live in Mitzpe Netofa, a religious yishuv in the Galil. Since 2021, Rabbi Schultz has also been serving as Director of Livyat Chen, YCT’s pastoral care training program in Israel, together with Rabanit Rahel Wachtfogel, teaching in batei midrash preparing future rabbis and leading supervisory groups for pastoral caregivers out in the field.
