Rabbi Benjamin Shiller
Chair, Department of Jewish Studies, Abraham Joshua Heschel High School, New York, NY
Benji was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He spent two years studying at Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel and received his BA in English Literature and Fine Arts from Yeshiva University. Benji also served as a combat infantry soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, and has led and taught Jewish high school students on trips to Poland and Israel. While at YCT, Benji served as a rabbinic intern at Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, Connecticut and at the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale. At the Heschel High School, Benji teaches Talmud, Tanakh, and Jewish Ethics. He also facilitates a daily tefillah group that incorporates creative arts into prayer practice. He currently lives in New Rochelle, NY with his wife, Atara, and their four daughters.
